Sattu is roasted grain flour — a traditional Indian staple that needs no cooking. Our Barley Sattu (jau ka sattu) is made only from dry-roasted barley, ground fine. It is a natural source of fibre and plant protein, and it is perfect for Hyderabad’s hot months.
1. Classic sattu sharbat (sweet)
Stir 2–3 tablespoons of sattu into a glass of chilled water with jaggery or honey and a squeeze of lemon.
2. Namkeen sattu drink
Mix sattu into water or buttermilk with roasted jeera powder, black salt, chopped mint and lemon. A favourite after a long, hot day.
3. Sattu lassi
Blend sattu with curd, a banana, a few dates and cold water for a filling morning drink.
4. In rotis and parathas
Add 2–3 tablespoons of sattu to your atta, or make a spiced sattu stuffing for parathas.
5. Sattu laddus
Mix sattu with warm ghee, powdered jaggery and chopped nuts, and roll into small laddus for a quick snack.
Storage
Keep sattu in an airtight container in a cool, dry place and use a dry spoon.
